SEATTLE (Reuters) – Magma levels are slowly rebuilding inside Mount St. Helens, a volcano in Washington state that erupted in 1980 and killed 57 people, although there was no sign of an impending eruption, U.S. scientists said.

The roughly 8,300-foot volcano erupted in an explosion of hot ash and gas on May 18, 1980, spewing debris over some 230 square miles and causing more than a billion dollars in property damage. Entire forests were crushed and river systems altered in the blast, which began with a 5.2 magnitude earthquake.

“The magma reservoir beneath Mount St. Helens has been slowly re-pressurizing since 2008,” the U.S. Geological Survey said in a statement on Wednesday. “It is likely that re-pressurization is caused by (the) arrival of a small amount of additional magma 4 to 8 km (2.5 to 5 miles) beneath the surface.”

The USGS said this is to be expected with an active volcano and does not indicate “the volcano is likely to erupt anytime soon.”

The USGS, and the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network at University of Washington, closely monitor ground deformation and seismicity at the volcano. This summer, they will also measure its released gases and gravity field, measurements that can be used to monitor subsurface magma and forecast eruptions.

Fukushima Radiation to Hit West Coast

SALEM, Ore. — Very low levels of radiation from the Fukushima nuclear disaster likely will reach ocean waters along the U.S. West Coast next month, scientists are reporting.

Current models predict that the radiation will be at extremely low levels that won’t harm humans or the environment, said Ken Buesseler, a chemical oceanographer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution who presented research on the issue last week.

But Buesseler and other scientists are calling for more monitoring. No federal agency currently samples Pacific Coast seawater for radiation, he said.

“I’m not trying to be alarmist,” Buesseler said. “We can make predictions, we can do models. But unless you have results, how will we know it’s safe?”

The news comes three years after the devastating Japan tsunami and resulting nuclear accident.

On March 11, 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of Japan, triggering a tsunami with waves as high as 133 feet. More than 15,000 people died and about 6,000 were injured.

The earthquake and tsunami knocked out power to cooling pumps at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant complex, causing meltdowns at three reactors.

Last July, Tokyo Electric Power Co., which operates the plant, acknowledged for the first time that the reactor was leaking contaminated underground water into the ocean.

Since then, the news has gotten worse, and there is widespread suspicion that the problem is underreported.

There are three competing models of the Fukushima radiation plume, differing in amount and timing. But all predict that the plume will reach the West Coast this summer, and the most commonly cited one estimates an April arrival, Buesseler said.

A report presented last week at a conference of the American Geophysical Union’s Ocean Sciences Section showed that some Cesium 134 has already has arrived in Canada, in the Gulf of Alaska area.

Cesium 134 serves as a fingerprint for Fukushima, Buesseler said.

“The models show it will reach north of Seattle first, then move down the coast,” Buesseler said.

By the time it gets here, the material will be so diluted as to be almost negligible, the models predict. Radiation also decays. Cesium 134, for example, has a half-life of two years, meaning it will have half its original intensity after that period.

Hepatitis B vaccine kills eight babies in China; drug manufacturer says ‘coincidence’

Babies are dying all over China after receiving the hepatitis B vaccine, and health authorities are claiming that it is all just one big coincidence. As reported by The New York Times (NYT) and relayed by VacTruth.com, at least eight newborn babies in China have died within 48 hours after receiving the controversial vaccine, which China’s largest drug company continues to insist is perfectly safe despite its obvious dangers.

The real cause of these “unexpected” deaths, claim the talking heads, must be some underlying health condition that just so happened to manifest itself at the exact same time that the babies were jabbed for a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that they have no way of contracting anyway. Never mind that almost all of the babies who died were perfectly healthy before getting the shot — just get your children vaccinated and be quiet!

“Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent newborns from hepatitis B even if it, like all other medical procedures, is never risk free,” stated Jia Jidong from Beijing Friendship Hospital following news of the deaths, in robotic concurrency with statements issued by the vaccine’s manufacturers. “The hepatitis B vaccine is safe,” she continues. “The incidence of very severe abnormal reactions is one in every 100,000, one in every 1 million or even lower.”

Tell that to the families of all those now-dead children, who must now try to seek justice through a system that is inherently biased in favor of vaccines. No amount of disease or death following vaccination will ever serve as enough evidence to indict a particular vaccine as dangerous, which means parents of vaccine-injured children have little choice but to accept their new reality and move on, hopefully influencing other parents along the way to think twice before jabbing their children.

Merck-funded hepatitis B campaign in China responsible for killing babies

As far as the situation in China, authorities are reportedly investigating the two companies responsible for manufacturing the vaccines, Shenzhen Kangtai and Beijing Tiantan Biological Products. NYT admits that six of the reported deaths were directly linked to hepatitis B vaccines produced by Shenzhen Kangtai, while the remaining two were linked to hepatitis B vaccines produced by Beijing Tiantan Biological Products.

And in another seemingly positive development, Dr. Zeng Guang, chief epidemiologist at the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told the U.K.’s Daily Mail in a phone interview that he is unsure about the integrity of the two companies’ denials that their vaccines caused the infant deaths. The news source quoted Dr. Guang expressing concerns that the vaccine companies are probably only interested in protecting their bottom lines at the expense of public health, hence their denials.

And yet, at the same time, the investigators involved in the case are already procuring denials that the vaccines were the definitive causes of death, with some of them still claiming that the jabs are safe. While the investigation continues, the Chinese government has suspended millions of vaccines produced by Shenzhen Kangtai from being used in the national hepatitis B vaccination program, which was hatched in the early 1990s with the blessing of U.S.-based drug giant Merck & Co.

“As a parent, you take on all of the risk of vaccinating your child,” adds Aufderheide. “Death or mutilation from a vaccine is an acceptable sacrifice for the medical establishment to keep the gears turning.”
